1) Ask for interest in a 'group buy' 2) Make a special 5% deal with a reseller which anyone could get with a phone call 3 Announce a special deal cut with a vendor 4) Wait a few weeks while the interest builds 5) Start taking names and payments for a 'soon but unspecified delivery date' 6) After quotas have been filled, announce that you have no connection with the supplier 7) wait 8) wait 9) wait 10) Say to the confused masses that 'the money has been processed and the orders will be filled soon' 11) wait 12) wait 13) the first products are shipped, and tracking numbers are issued... hope burns bright among the assembled masses 14) wait 15) wait 16) grumbling on the web forum, followed by a spirited defense from the group buy organizer 17) wait 18) wait 19 enthusiastic posted reception from forum members, but alas, no pictures of the product. 20) wait 21) some posted pics, not what you were expecting 22) GB organizer posting 'well what did you expect for the price?' 23) you finally get get a courier tracking number for your order 24) wait 25) order arrives, fair to good quality, and yet, you somehow feel cheated.
Disclaimer: I'm extremely happy with the TunerD group buy, my seat skins are exacly what I expected with the price I paid. The above is an exaggeration of what people expect and receive with a group buy.
